Apply for Visa

Why this step matters

This is the part where everything becomes real. You already have your unconditional offer (or CAS/CoE/LOA depending on country), but you cannot travel or start classes until the embassy/high commission approves your student visa / study permit.

A strong visa file shows 4 things

You have a genuine offer from a recognized institution (CAS – UK, LOA – Canada, CoE – Australia)

You have enough money to pay tuition + live in that country (this is becoming stricter, especially for Canada from Sept 2025).

You meet English / academic requirements.

You’re a genuine student who will follow visa rules and return/transition legally.

If any of these parts is weak, you can get delayed or refused even after doing all the university steps correctly.

What you need before starting

Before you open the visa portal / VFS / Gerry’s appointment page, make sure you already have

Unconditional offer

from the university (or CAS for UK, CoE for Australia, LOA for Canada). No final admission = no visa.

Valid passport

(covering your study period)

Proof of tuition payment / deposit

(many UK/Aus universities ask for this before giving CAS/CoE)

Proof of funds

that actually match the 2025 rules of that country (Canada increased funds from Sept 1, 2025; you can’t show old amounts).

English test

(if your visa route requires separate proof)

Medical / TB test / biometrics readiness

(Canada gives 30 days for biometrics after letter; Australia needs health & OSHC; UK sometimes asks for TB for certain countries).

SOP / Study plan / GTE-style explanation

(Canada & Australia especially care about intention).

If you don’t have these answers yet, you’re not late. This is exactly what Immigration Experts helps you define during your first session.

How this step works (checklist / process)

We can generalize the student-visa flow across UK / Canada / Australia like this

Gather country-specific checklist

UK: CAS, funds, English, passport.

Canada: LOA, proof of funds (now higher), biometrics, explanation letter.

Australia: CoE, OSHC, funds, GTE/statement.

Pay the visa fee + biometrics fee

Canada specifically says pay biometrics fee at submission or it delays the file.

Wait for decision / respond to ADR (additional doc request)

Some cases get asked for more financials or explanation; answer fast.

Fill the visa / study-permit application online

You enter your personal data, course details, university address, start/end dates, and financial info exactly as on the CAS/CoE/LOA.

Upload documents clearly

Passport, offer/CAS/CoE, payment proof, bank statements, sponsor letters, family income, property (if showing ties), English test, medical if done.

Book biometrics / VAC appointment

Show up with original passport and confirmation.

Receive visa / study permit approval

Once you have it, you can move to Step 8

Common mistakes

This is a high-refusal step. The usual reasons

Showing outdated or too-low funds

(big one for Canada in 2025, they raised the amount).

Not matching university data

(visa application dates don’t match CoE/CAS; course name spelled wrong).

Weak intention / no proper study plan

(visa officer not convinced you’re going to study).

Bank statements without ownership/explanation

(who is paying? what is their relation?)

Submitting before final offer

(trying to file visa with conditional offer).

Applying too late

( embassies are slow near intake, so even a good file can miss the start date).

Most of these are fixable before submission that’s where Immigration Experts should be involved.

Timeline (when this happens in the journey)

UK: often 6 months before course start when applying from outside the UK.

Canada: as soon as you have LOA and funds, because 2025 has caps + higher funds → slower / stricter processing.

Australia: apply early, CoE + OSHC must be ready and visa fee is higher from July 2025.

Rule for students in Pakistan: don’t wait for “1 month before intake” that’s how people miss flights.

Documents / proof required

Exact list varies, but a safe master checklist looks like

Valid passport

Proof of tuition payment / deposit

Unconditional offer / CAS (UK) / CoE (Australia) / LOA (Canada)

Proof of funds (bank statement, GIC, sponsor letter, income docs) using 2025 updated amounts for Canada.

English test (if required)

Medical/TB where applicable

OSHC (for Australia)

Visa application form + payment receipt

All of this is leading to one goal: unlock the unconditional offer.

What happens if you delay

If you wait too long to file your visa:

You may get a decision after your course start date

then you must defer.

Exchange rate or fund rules may change

(Canada 2025 did exactly this).

You might miss biometric/medical windows

and your file goes late.

University can push you to next intake

because you didn’t get visa in time.

So Step 7 should be treated like a deadline, not “I’ll do it when I’m free.”

When should I apply for my student visa?

You should apply as soon as you have your unconditional offer/CAS/CoE/LOA and your funds are ready, because visa processing can take several weeks longer near the intake. Applying early protects you from last-minute embassy delays.

Do I need to pay tuition before applying for a student visa?

Many universities and some countries expect at least the tuition deposit to be paid before they issue CAS/CoE or before the visa officer can be satisfied you’re a genuine student. Check the line in your offer letter about deposits and follow that amount don’t guess.

How much money do I need to show for a study visa?

It depends on the country. The UK requires you to show enough money for tuition plus living costs for up to 9 months. Canada increased its minimum proof-of-funds amounts from September 1, 2025. Australia also requires you to show funds plus OSHC. Always use the current requirement of that country, not old screenshots.

Can I apply for a study visa with a conditional offer?

In most cases you need an unconditional offer or the final acceptance document (CAS/CoE/LOA) to apply. Filing a visa while your offer is still conditional can slow down or block your application. It’s better to clear university conditions first.

What if my study visa is refused?

You can usually reapply, but you must fix the reason for refusal first often it’s weak funds, unclear study plan, or missing documents. Keep the refusal letter, bring it to Immigration Experts, and we can help you prepare a stronger file for the next attempt
